This song was written so early in the pandemic, before things really got a lot worse. A heavy, slow minor-mode song with an intense, major-mode chorus, it’s one of our favorite songs on the album and the lines are particularly etched and effective. The song itself was inspired in part by news reports on pandemic-induced isolation and pressure on relationships it caused. The title “Hiding Hard” by itself sounds like one thing (i.e., hiding with intensity or resolve) but the chorus line is actually “We found hiding hard.”
