A somewhat bleak and mythical song about four silver things (dagger, bullet, medal, linings). It has nothing to do with the old folk ballad of the same name sung by Joan Baez and others (and which I learned about from my friend Steve Rings only after writing it), except perhaps that it started life in a Dylanesque, folk-like vein. The complete stops after each verse were introduced at Johnny's suggestion and really improved the song, as did the band's arrangement as a whole.
